Our Ford dealership has connected many drivers with exciting new electric vehicles (EVs), including electric trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning. For some, this may be their first winter with an EV, and we have some quick tips to help you maximize your driving range in cold weather.
- Clear your EV of snow to eliminate extra drag and weight
- Ensure you have your tires at the proper pressure
- Park in your EV in a garage during winter whenever possible
- Keep your EV plugged in while parked
- Precondition the vehicle through the center screen or FordPass app to warm the battery
- If possible, use the heated steering wheel and heated seats as a primary heat source to reduce energy consumption by the HVAC
- Operate your EV at moderate speeds to reduce energy usage
We hope that these cold weather driving tips for EVs helped, but let us know if you have other questions.
